making decorative hearts
This art and craft is enjoyable to make. It has some maths concepts like recognising shapes, measuring, fractions, sorting and counting.
First find some cardboard. My cardboard has got circles already marked, which is helpful. If you don't have marked circles, you can draw them by tracing around a cup with a pencil. Second, draw a heart shape or get a family member to draw one for you. Next, carefully cut around your heart shape. Dothan has chosen to use plain cardboard paper.
Fourth step is to take the paper rolls and cut across 2-3cm. Next, make them into a heart shape and glue each one inside the circle. If you see half a circle, make the heart shape smaller. Count as you go along.
Fifth step is to take the coloured napkin paper, crunch it and fill this into the heart shapes with glue. Remember to think about how many napkins would you use to fill in each one?
Lastly, wait for the glue to dry. How amazing is the final result!! I'm so happy how it turned out. Just like a gifted chocolate box but without the chocolates. Dothan has chosen to use different coloured flower petals. Which is a brilliant idea. Two ways to decorate your cardboard by using coloured napkins, clear coloured cellophane and flower petals from the garden. Give this a go!!
