Skittles and water.

Have you ever wondered what happens when you add water to skittles? We tried this experiment today and learnt some interesting things.
Did you know that skittles are coated in food colouring and suagr. When you add water to the skittles the coloured coating dissolves spreading through the water. It may look like the skittles has disappeared, but in fact it has been mixed with water to make a transparent (see through) liquid called a solution.
The skittles is a soluable substance which means when you mix sugar and water, the water dissolves to make a transparent solution.
The solution comes up with lots of lovely colours. Which gives us an idea, to use one colour and paint a picture. We chose pink as it's our favourite colour.
The skittles have not disappeared but the colours, certainly has.
Our painted pictures turned out really good. Next time when you have got a packet of skittles, give this a go and you will be amazed like us.
